How a global home appliances leader is using IP VPN to keep its competitive edge

Customer Profile: A multinational company operating in India for over 6 years, and one of the most reputed names in home appliances worldwide, our customer has operations spread over 40 locations and over 4,000 dealers and service centers in India.

Network Infrastructure Requirements: Our customer was looking for a WAN solution to connect over 40 locations in India. Their primary objective was to enable robust, reliable and secure data transfer among the locations in order to derive the maximum benefits from SAP, that was under implementation at that point in time. In addition, they had plans to implement messaging and call center to facilitate speedy intra-office communications.

Our customer’s approach: The choices in front of our customer were to expand its already existing, but small VSAT network, or to set up a private network using point-to-point terrestrial links. A third option, relatively a new concept at that time, was to set up a Virtual Private Network. After thorough evaluation and detailed consultations with their counterparts in their US headquarters, our customer chose a VPN solution from Sify.
