Globus implements Sify solution

Globus, a part of the Rajan Raheja group opened its first store in 1999 at Indore followed by the launch of its second store in Chennai (T-Nagar). Soon to follow was another in Chennai located in Adyar. The administration built a strong, competitive, innovative, adaptive zone with the business from the beginning. Succeeding stores were established in Bangalore, Ghaziabad Mumbai and Kanpur. Globus also recently launched its thirteenth store in Ahmedabad in May.
Globus Stores Pvt. Ltd. was formed to contribute in the revolution sweeping the retail industry.

Globus promises to bring about a perceptible change in the way apparel and lifestyle retailing has been carried so far.

Globus combines state-of-art international information technology, the highest quality human resources and sustained financial commitment to realize the long term vision.

This rapidly expanding style marketer is targetting to have an additional 100 fashion stores by the end of 2010.

Business Need:

Earlier, Globus was running most of its business locations with other VPN service providers. Most of the locations were on last mile provided by BSNL / MTNL with ISDN as backup.
Though the Ex-Service Providers for Globus had competitive rates with Sify, the annual last mile charges at most locations were very high.

They provided an uptime guarantee only between its PoPs and not on the last mile, and this was the major pain area.
There were regular problems on last mile resulting in high downtimes and also high ISDN costs. The commissioning time was very high as the connectivity would usually depend on third party last mile service providers like BSNL resulting in most projects getting delayed.

The scalability was very low as up-gradation of last mile leased line was required for bandwidth up-gradation above 64kbps, which again would take around 3-4 weeks.
Thus resulting overall network availability was poor and these problems made an alarm for a fine network with a fledged service.

Solution:

Globus did a detailed study and chose Sify’s MPLS-VPN as the right choice. Smooth transition was possible with expertise of Sify.

The drawbacks were handled with an effective service from Sify MPLS-VPN. There were no last mile charges or any other third party services involved.

Sify proved an uptime commitment end to end between routers including the last mile running on RF. ISDN costs have also reduced as RF uptime is high.

Commissioning time for new locations has reduced drastically, resulting in projects being completed on time which is very positive for the IT department.

Sify manages the MPLS-VPN network and is in turn not dependant on any third party service provider which results in better performance and a single window to address all requirements.

"We would look forward to our strategic partnership with Sify to grow on account of close and interactive support and one-to-one interaction."
