Functional
Architecture
SLEMS Lite
has following main modules
Dialer
This part of the application is utilized for configuring
and maintaining the dial up set up. This involves setting
up dial up access numbers and other related details
like user id for the account and other properties for
Modem settings.
Scheduler
This module takes care of scheduling the dial up activity.
This helps in creating and maintaining the dial up frequency
and duration based on business needs. Scheduler allows
administrator to configure dial up activity based on
day of the week and time of the day.
Mail
Retriever
Mail retriever takes care of actually exchanging mails
with main mail server and the local mail server. The
mail retriever can use most of the protocols used for
mail retrieval - POP3, IMAP, ODMR and ETRN. The choice
of protocol depends on the protocol supported by remote
mail server. The delivery to the local mail server could
be through SMTP or through a local MDA.
Mail
Server
SLEMS Lite has built in full fledged mail server and
all users within the local location can access the same
either using SLEMS Lite web-interface or via any standard
mail client. SLEMS Lite has detailed administrator interface.
This provides easy management of the mail set up either
using web based administrator module or X-windows based
mail administration console.
Since SLEMS Lite is a Lan Mail solution, the local mail
set up works with a centralized mail server. Centralized
mail server acts as default gateway with external world.
All mails with outside world are exchanged via Centralized
Mail server.
