Sify's Bandwidth Powers DLB's Banking Systems

DLB turned to Sify for establishing a wireless broadband because Sify is India's largest provider of broadband services that ensure high speed, high quality, low cost and easy to use connectivity.

Headquartered at Thrissur, Kerala, Dhanalakshmi Bank Limited (DLB) is a professionally managed bank with 178 branches and 26 extension counters spread over Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra, Maharashtra, Gujarat,West Bengal and New Delhi. All of its branches were computerized either with Core Banking or branch banking solutions. DLB deploys IT with the sole objective of providing a modern, competitive, end-to-end service offerings to its retail and corporate customers.

In its first phase, DLB had already brought over 80% of its business and 75 of its branches under CBS.

The Business Challenge:

DLB is planning to introduce Mobile Banking and has hosted a comprehensive mobile banking application at its Data center in Bangalore.

The mobile banking application was to provide the bank's customers SMS alerts as and when transactions are completed in their accounts. The bank required a stable and premium Internet connectivity at its Bangalore Data Center. The important critereon was that the Internet connectivity should be made available at the shortest possible timeframe.

Why Sify?

DLB turned to Sify for establishing a wireless broadband because Sify is India's largest provider of broadband services that ensure high speed, high quality, low cost and easy to use connectivity.

Sify provided Internet bandwidth through its Wireless broadband as last mile. The Wireless Broadband link terminated on the existing Cisco router at the bank's Bangalore Data Center and the priary traffic was routed through the wireless broadband via the existing router.

Sify established a secondary ISDN backup link to provide the connectivity for the traffic flows, in the event of failure of the primary link that terminated at the nearest Sify Network Operating Centre.

Future plans:

With the ongoing partnership with Sify, DLB is also in the process of setting up of regional processing centers (RPC) to leverage the functionalities of centralized core banking solution and is also planning to provide online internet banking facilities.
