Becomes First Indian Company to be Certified ISO 9001,
2000 for Network Services, Data Center Operations and
Customer Relationship Management

February 11, 2002: Sify Limited (Nasdaq National
Market: Sify) India’s premier Internet, Network
and eCommerce company, has become the first Indian company
to be certified ISO 9001, 2000 for its network services,
data center operations and customer relationship management
at Tidel Park, Chennai.
Mr Rustom Irani, Chief Technology
Officer, Sify, said, “Being certified ISO 9001,
2000 is a recognition of the standards that we have
built into and maintained in our network operations.
Ours is the largest mission critical network of its
kind in India, with 53 points of presence, covering
over 90% of the established PC base in the country.
We have about 650 corporate customers for whom we run
VPNs and other network or communications solutions on
our network backbone. This certification will come as
a validation of the trust placed in us by these clients
to run their critical operations over our network.”
The ISO 9001, 2000 certification from
Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Netherlands under the RvA
accreditation scheme provides recognition for self-defined
benchmarks against international companies with respect
to facilities, metrices, processes and practices. The
scope of operation includes network engineering/operations,
systems support, infrastructure, help desk and customer
support.
Sify operates its network of domestic
and international bandwidth over cable, copper, fiber
and satellite/wireless media, and distributed via more
than 800 BRI/PRI access lines and 500 leased lines,
and multiple fixed wireless and RF links.
Sify was a pioneer in the country
for corporate networking services. Sify’s network
was India’s:

- First E1 network
- First ATM Backbone
- First Private National ISP
- First MPLS-based network
Sify’s Network Management team
is comprised of more than 150 experienced professionals
from a variety of industries, including banking and
financial services, media and manufacturing. The Network
