Lan Mail - Windows (SLM)
SLM is a browser based email system
that enjoys the benefits of Web Based mailing as well
as Simple POP 3 Mailing. It is designed to run on
a Corporate (e.g. ABC Ltd) LAN where one of the PC's
is assigned as the MailServer on the LAN and the rest
of the machines as clients. The SifyM@il Software
is installed on the Mail server on the corporate LAN.
Using a single Modem and Telephone
Line the SLM software dials into the Central MailServer
placed in the data center at Sify where ABC LTD has
been given a unique mailbox with mailbox space. Once
the connection between the ABC's Server and the Central
Server is established all mails pertaining to the
domain ABC.COM gets downloaded to ABC's Server and
all mails from ABC.COM to others on the net gets pumped
out via the Central Server.
Depending on the number of users the
administrator can configure as many aliases as he
requires. Each alias is mapped to the Master ID, which
is the only one with mail space. Once all the mails
have been downloaded to ABC's server SLM distributes
the same to the various aliases as and when they login.
