Sify’s
Wireless Local Loop Access
Sify’s wireless local
loop is an alternate access method for Layer 3 MPLS Layer
3 IP VPN services. This last mile connectivity solution targets
to offer high availability, quality, scalability and rapid
deployment to its customers. This SLA driven local access
ensures very high throughput capacity through cellular topology
deployment.
Sify’s wireless
local loop would operate in the licensed 5.725-5.825 GHz band
and 2.5 GHz band. Table provides details on Sify’s wireless
deployment.

The following is the
procedure for wireless local loop infrastructure deployment
for Layer 3 MPLS IP VPN
The feasibility process is initiated on
receipt of the complete customer address
The feasibility will be first tested between
the customer premise and the existing base station
If the LoS is feasible then Sify will install
new AP for Layer 3 MPLS IP-VPN customer
If feasibility is not possible on an existing
base station then the backend team would work on the feasibility
of establishing new base station
On approvals new base station with dedicated
AP’s for MPLS would be would be installed
SU will be connected to the customer end
router or switch on an Ethernet interface, which will in
turn connects to the customer LAN
To activate connections, Sify will configure
the router at the customer premise
The central provisioning group will configure
MPLS network for the customer to the destined location
Note
Based on the requirement of the customer
and feasibility, Sify will deploy new Base stations with
dedicated AP’s for MPLS IP VPN or new AP’s on
the existing 149 base stations.
The process to be followed for feasibility
is given in Section IV
Sify’s wireless local
loop deployment consists of the following
Deploying base stations (Access-Points –
AP’s) in the hexagonal shaped cells
Deploying subscriber units (SU) at the customer
premise, which are in line of sight with the AP’s.
The traffic of the base station is backhauled
through TDM or Ethernet to Sify’s IP MPLS network.
To maximize coverage the AP’s are deployed sectorally.
The AP’s communicate with the SU’s
using ATM interface
